Chivas have a busy week as they host the San Jose Earthquakes Wednesday and travel to Sporting Kansas City on Saturday. Expect to see some rotation of the lineups in those two games, especially because the game at Livestrong Sporting Park will probably be very hot and humid.

It is the last day to vote for the 2011 MLS All-Star team! On the ballot are Dan Kennedy, Heath Pearce, Nick LaBrocca, Justin Braun, Ante Jazic, and Alejandro Moreno. Let's see them in New York! Voting ends tonight at 8:59 pm PT.

Speaking of Moreno, he played 25 minutes in Venezuela's 2011 Copa America debut against Brazil on Sunday. Moreno was subbed on and although he didn't get the game-winning goal, he did help Venezuela burn the clock to hold on for a 0-0 draw. The result is a wonderful accomplishment for la Vinotinto considering their international history, but some pundits say this may be the start of a new era for Venezuela, especially moving into the qualification stage for the 2014 World Cup. Congrats to Alejandro!

In addition to Moreno, fellow Venezuelan and former Chivas USA striker Giancarlo Maldonado also played in the match, coming on in the 79th minute.

Chivas lost out on the Soony Saad lottery today. The former University of Michigan striker left school and signed with MLS last weekend, after scoring 19 goals his freshman year. Chivas had the highest odds (45.9%) in the weighed lottery, while the team with the third-best odds, Sporting Kansas City (21.2%), wound up with him. It seems a bit unfair that the team in the lottery with the best forwards ended up winning Saad (Chicago and Portland were also in the running) but Chivas' hunt for a consistent goalscorer continues. Read more about Saad and the lottery here.

Is it the end of the "Maximum Winning" era in Chivatown? Defender Seth Owusu, who has not played for Chivas in MLS this season, is reportedly out of the team and is on trial at Real Salt Lake. No official word yet on if Owusu has been waived or will be shortly. If it is the end, Chivas' fans will have never really seen if Owusu can play, as the only game he played for Chivas was in the Open Cup against Portland back in March. He suffered a knee injury and was out for about 3 months, and hadn't featured since his return from that injury.

And Gerson Mayen has made the switch to represent El Salvador internationally. He previously represented the United States at the U-20 level. Read about it here (article in Spanish).
