Just wanted to provide a general news wrap-up on Chivas USA:

Obviously, the big news concerns the new signings by the club, Laurent Courtois and David Junior Lopes. Courtois' signing has been officially announced, and today came a couple of articles about his arrival. Adam Serrano, who broke the news yesterday, has an article about it on the league website. Obviously good stuff about Courtois, but my preliminary belief that the Goats are done in the transfer market may not be correct, as Robin Fraser admits the team is still looking for a striker. Check it out.

In addition, Gabe Dahl has an article on the team's official website that features a brief interview from Courtois and some comments from Fraser. Courtois is planning to play on Saturday against New England so long as his paperwork is approved.

If you are so inclined, there is also the official print announcement from the club on the Courtois signing, also on the team's official website.

Apparently, Lopes has not been fully and officially signed yet, but indications are that an announcement is imminent, as he is already in training with the team.

In other news...

Heath Pearce is a part of the Klinsmann era! The defender got the call-up to Jurgen Klinsmann's first game in charge of the United States Men's National Team to be held August 10 against Mexico. Congratulations to Heath!

Another article from Serrano, an interview with Zarek Valentin on his transition to MLS.

And another article by Serrano, about Chivas' U-15 and U-17 squads and their recent impressive performances at the Generation Adidas Cup in Texas. The U-15s finished second to the New York Red Bulls squad, and the U-17s fell in the semifinals to the Galaxy. If you aren't aware of the name Kevin de la Torre, keep your eyes open, as he was the Golden Boot winner for the U-17s. It looks like the Goats may have some promising talent coming through the pipeline. Congrats to both teams!

Finally, if you haven't taken a look yet, check out the viral video lighting up the internet. Called "Chiva Spice" Michael Lahoud is trying to take over the mantle from Fabio and the Old Spice man, and features an unexpected cameo by Jimmy Conrad to boot. Nicely done, go show your friends and family!
