As you may already be aware, the 2012 MLS SuperDraft was held earlier today. The draft this year was two rounds, and there is still a Supplemental Draft early next week, but this was the main showcase pre-season event in the MLS year. Chivas USA selected Maryland forward Casey Townsend as the fifth overall pick, and we'll have more in-depth analysis of the selection in the next couple days here on The Goat Parade. In the meantime, you can take a look at this post shortly after the selection was made for initial impressions.

Besides that, here's the list of the rest of the picks in the draft. One interesting thing to note: no international players (meaning those who didn't go through the American college system) were selected today. While the saga of Victor Estupinan may have dissuaded teams from picking an international player, there are at least a few international players who may be of interest in the Supplemental Draft, where Chivas have a plethora of picks. Chivas only had the single pick in today's SuperDraft, but feel free to comment on the rest of the selections made by other teams in the comment section below.
