The good stretch enjoyed on the international level by members of Chivas USA's first team and youth academy continues with news reported by a few sources of the most recent call up of forward Alejandro Moreno by Venezuela. As you are no doubt aware, Moreno has been a fixture with la vinotinto since he came to the Goats, including a solid contribution at Venezuela's historically successful run in last year's Copa America. The most recent call up comes for the friendly scheduled for January 21 against the United States. You may recall Heath Pearce is training with the USMNT now in the annual "Camp Cupcake" and he might feature in the friendly as well, but let's hope there's no goat-on-goat crime if that happens.
Venezuelan news site El Nacional is also reporting that Venezuela will also face Mexico January 25, and Moreno will presumably also be on the roster for that friendly as well. If you are interested, both matches will be held in the United States, the U.S. match in Phoenix and the Mexico match in Houston. Anybody want to go road tripping?Regardless, congratulations to Moreno for staying in his national side and getting some good game time in ahead of the Chivas USA season!
