Chivas USA Defender Jazic Called up Again For Canada's Qualifiers

Chivas USA defender Ante Jazic has been selected to the latest Canadian men's national team roster ahead of their 2014 World Cup qualifiers, according to the club. Jazic will be available for Canada's match October 12 against Cuba in Toronto, as well as the October 16 game against Honduras in San Pedro Sula.

Jazic has been getting extensive minutes for the national team this season, and coach Stephen Hart seems to believe he is the best option at left back, despite being 36 and playing for an increasingly awful team. Despite that, Canada is in a decent position, as they are in 3rd place in Group C, two points behind Panama and tied with Honduras (Canada is behind on the tiebreaker as they have a lower goal difference than Honduras). If the Canadians can get a full six points in these last two games, they will advance to the hexagonal round of CONCACAF qualifying. That has to be the goal, but they face a "banana peel" game against Cuba, who are out of the running, followed by a road game against a very dangerous Central American team. It won't be easy, but if they can grab two wins, they will be moving on, something they have not done in several World Cup cycles.

Jazic won't be missing any games with Chivas, as his absence coincides with the international break.
