Following Ante Jazic's announcement earlier today that Chivas USA picked up his contract option for 2013, fellow defender Rauwshan McKenzie has also announced his option has been picked up, also via twitter:
Option picked up for next year! #ManOnaMission

The center back was signed during the preseason, and appeared in 24 matches in all competitions for Chivas in 2012. At 26, he is entering his prime, and in a strange way, benefitted from a late-season benching by head coach Robin Fraser. He didn't play in the final eight games of the season, as John Valencia was preferred to him, and in that span Chivas went winless during that stretch.
Considering the expectation that there will be a considerable amount of roster turnover this season (like every season, basically), having two defenders back with the Goats in 2012, hopefully supplemented by some true upgrades, should help the team moving into 2013.
