Chivas USA Trade with LA Galaxy Ahead of Re-Entry Draft

Ric Tapia

The second phase of the Re-Entry draft is set to begin very soon, but before that, Chivas USA have made a move regarding the RED. The club has announced that they traded their number two pick in the Re-Entry Draft to the LA Galaxy in exchange to the Galaxy's 19th overall Re-Entry Draft pick, a 2013 international roster slot, and the Galaxy's first round 2013 Supplemental Draft pick.

That makes at least one additional draft pick and at least one more 2013 international roster spot acquired by the Goats this week, depending on whether Chivas obtains a second round SuperDraft pick or an international roster spot from the Portland Timbers, as stipulated in that trade. It looks clear that the Goats are trying to stockpile international roster spots (for obvious reasons, if they want to bring more players from Mexico to the team) and also draft picks, since at the start of the week they only had one draft pick between the SuperDraft and Supplemental Draft.

Will the Goats select anybody in the Re-Entry Draft? We'll let you know soon enough.
