The latest round of SB Nation's MLS power rankings are out, and it's not necessarily pretty. In addition to dropping Chivas USA one place this week to 15th, we get this gem by way of explanation from Jeremiah Oshan: "It's easy to forget this team exists some times. Scoreless draws certainly don't help." The reflexive instinct in me wants to go howl at the moon at that assertion, because Chivas are an important club too, dammit!

But let's consider this for a moment. Chivas are one of the most marginalized clubs in the league, even in pretty good times. They've come off back to back scoreless draws in the league, with a bye week sandwiched in the middle. So...maybe he has a point. I know they exist, but even the most ardent supporters among us know that although Chivas are grinding out results, they aren't winning any beauty contests in the process. Defense may win championships, and the Goats have a good defense, but they can't score for anything, and are last in the league in goals scored. Without wonder strikes to get in the national conversation for goal of the week, and without 3-0 scorelines that make neutrals sit up and notice, it's hard for a team to get respect. The hive mind's assessment is telling this team: you think you're good? Prove it!

Here's my other theory on Oshan's dig: he's a Seattle fan, and he's scared of the Goats. The Sounders folks act all cocky about the U.S. Open Cup, but maybe they fear their time is running out? We'll find out Wednesday.

Oh, and the San Jose Earthquakes lead the power rankings again this week.
