Gamethread: Chivas USA Vs. Portland Timbers, 7/18/12

It's time for the game! Chivas USA have a rare weekday matinee at the Home Depot Center today, when they host the Portland Timbers (1 pm, Fox Sports West). The kids are expected to be at the game in full force, while many adults are busy with work. Can Chivas USA get a win today against the Timbers? Both teams have had a season full of ups and downs, and although Chivas won the last match at Portland, the Timbers are certainly eager to change their fortunes. This could be a cracker, or it could fizzle in the July sun. At any rate, we'll find out soon enough!

Unfortunately, I'm working during most of today's match, and won't be able to provide my typical play-by-play and basic commentary. I'll have to wait until I get home to watch the game. If Chivas get a great result, I may "liveblog" it after the fact, but if it is a blah performance then I'll probably just skip ahead to the match report. Stay tuned on that! If you want to jump in and provide commentary, feel free in the comment section below!
