Well, the news is coming hot and heavy around Chivatown. Kevin Baxter at the Los Angeles Times reported today that Chivas USA General Manager Jose Domene was fired as part of the new 100% Vergara regime. Even Simon Borg reported the news on MLSsoccer.com, and while he used Baxter's report as the basis for his story, one would figure the "official" media would have a pretty good sense of what was happening, right?
Now, the plot thickens. After going all day without tweeting or making any public comment, Domene responded:
By the way. I did NOT get fired today
— Jose Domene (@domene) August 31, 2012#FearTheGoat
What to make of this? Well, it looks like the story isn't over. It could be that the move is still imminent but not yet complete, that Domene somehow saved his job, that the source Baxter used was bad, or loads of other possible explanations.
I guess this is an ongoing story, and we may or may not hear more about it in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
