Good news on the international front for Chivas USA! Defender Ante Jazic has been called up to the Canadian Men's National Team for their upcoming 2014 World Cup Qualifiers. Jazic has become a fixture in Canada's defense since last fall, when he was recalled by head coach Stephen Hart, and he even captained the side in a friendly earlier this month against Trinidad & Tobago. Jazic has regularly been featuring in competitive matches as well, as he was involved in the earlier round of CONCACAF qualifiers prior to this current group stage, of which he's also been a part.

Canada will continue their quest to make the hexagonal round of World Cup qualifying by facing Panama home and away. Canada will host the Panamanians September 7 in Toronto at BMO Field, then will travel down to Panama to play again September 11.

This middle stretch is potentially key to Canada's hopes, as they currently sit in second place in Group C, on four points, with Panama leading the group with six points. Now, if Canada finishes group play in second place, that will be enough to advance to the hexagonal round, but Honduras are currently languishing in third place on one point, and will have to be considered a viable threat in the final four group games. As a result, it is imperative for Canada to pick up as many points as possible.

It should be interesting, to say the least, and Canada will have to work hard to get some points on a rising team in Panama next month. Congrats to Ante, and best of luck!
