Chivas USA continued their MLS Reserve League play Tuesday, and lost 1-0 to the LA Galaxy at the Home Depot Center complex. A goal in the 78th minute from 17-year old striker Jack McBean was the difference in the match, and means the team split the Reserve League season series with a win apiece (Chivas won 4-2 April 2 in the first MLS Reserve League match of the season for the Goats). The loss means Chivas are 3-3-3 in the Reserve League this season, with one match remaining.

Chivas' starting lineup was: Tim Melia; Rauwshan McKenzie, Nelson Akwari, Ruben Rodriguez, Jose Dheming, Laurent Courtois, Paolo Cardozo, Jorge Villafana, Cesar Romero, Casey Townsend, Tristan Bowen

The non-roster players are familiar in Chivas' recent reserve matches. Akwari has been playing with the team for weeks but there's no indication the team is looking to sign him. We've finally found out Rodriguez's first name! In the Galaxy report, he was listed as a trialist, but so was Akwari, so I'm not sure that he's on trial at this stage in the season. Dheming is of course a Chivas Youth Academy player.

The Goats only had one sub in the game, when Jose Correa replaced Townsend at the start of the second half. Based on the number of roster players used, the fact that the team was coming off a bye, and the single sub, it seems the coaching staff was using this reserve match differently than most. I imagine we may see a few of these players make the matchday 18 Sunday in the first team match, and who knows, they may even start. We'll have to wait and see, I suppose.
