Chivas USA plays New Zealand to a scoreless draw

Chivas USA send New Zealand onto Trinidad & Tobago with consecutive draws after an Erick Torres missed penalty shot.

With the scheduling debacle behind them, the New Zealand All-Whites took to the StubHub Center Track and Field facility for a friendly against Chivas USA, playing the home team to a scoreless draw Saturday afternoon.

The match featured a handball penalty awarded to Erick Torres. Torres' attempt skied over the bar.

So even though it was a friendly, it would appear that Jose Luis Real put in his first choice squad, undoubtedly to help limit the rust as the squad doesn't play again until a week from Wednesday against Real Salt Lake.

For New Zealand, it's off to Port of Spain for Wednesday's friendly against Trinidad and Tobago. This will be New Zealand's last friendly before next month's home and away World Cup qualifier against the CONCACAF Hexagonal fourth place finisher, currently Mexico, but Honduras and Panama could still end up being the All Whites' opponents.
