The LA Galaxy reserves have won the West Reserve Division Title for the second year in a row behind goals from Hector Jimenez and Jose Villarreal in the win over the Chivas USA reserves at a match played Monday night at the StubHub Center.
Even though Real Salt Lake has more points in the Reserve League, the Galaxy's ensured that LA finishes ahead of the pack in terms of points per game (Vancouver Whitecaps FC (1.6 PPG) and Real Salt Lake (1.5 PPG).
With one game left in the Reserve League, Chivas can finish can finish as high as third if they are able to win their final match. That will be October 15th against the San Jose Earthquakes at Nutrilite Training Facility. The facility, though not Buck Shaw Arena, is near the site of the new Earthquakes stadium.
Intriguingly this marks the Galaxy's second consecutive Reserve league win. With many academy prospects lining up along the rank-and-file Galaxy players, it's definitely concerning that the Galaxy hegemony isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
