The votes have been tabulated, and The Goat Parade's player awards for 2013 are here! Without further ado...

The Goat Parade's 2013 Most Valuable Player: Erick Torres

For the second time in three years, a late addition to the team who went on a scoring tear late in the season captured the readers' votes. In 2011, it was Juan Pablo Angel, and this year, it was Cubo, whose seven goals in 15 appearances clearly paced the Goats in 2013. Among Torres' strikes were winning goals in all three of Chivas' victories after his arrival in July, plus a brace in a draw. In fact, the Goats only lost one game in which Cubo scored, demonstrating his value in providing results to his team.

Cubo was the clear leader in the reader vote, with 2012 MVP Dan Kennedy a distant second. And while Torres' future with Chivas USA remains up in the air, it appears that there is a good chance that the on-loan striker will get another stint in MLS.

TGP's 2011 MVP: Juan Pablo Angel

The Goat Parade's 2013 Newcomer of the Year: Matthew Fondy

Another forward added late in the season captured the readers' votes, as Matthew Fondy won Newcomer of the Year, barely edging out a late rally by Steve Purdy's supporters. Fondy did not score in a competitive match for Chivas in 2013, but his energy off the bench (he was a substitute in six of his seven MLS appearances) clearly impressed the voters. Add to that his larger 2013 story, as a player who was invited to San Jose Earthquakes' training camp but not ultimately offered a contract, followed by a successful stint with the LA Blues, before signing with Chivas at the end of August, and it is hard not to want to see Fondy succeed. Perhaps he can become further familiar with the speed of MLS in 2014 and begin banging goals in.

TGP's 2012 Newcomer of the Year: James Riley

The Goat Parade's 2013 Top Attacker: Erick Torres

Unsurprisingly, the player who had more than double the goals of the next highest scorer on the team won Top Attacker in a landslide. At just 20 years old, Cubo still has room to grow, and again, if he returns to Chivas USA, he should get plenty of playing time and opportunity to score at a regular clip. Doesn't it make you wonder how Chivas USA would have fared had he been on the team all season? Or if Torres had an opportunity to play alongside Juan Agudelo for the Goats? At any rate, he was a step above the rest in 2013.

TGP's 2012 Top Attacker: Miller Bolanos

The Goat Parade's 2013 Defender of the Year: Steve Purdy

Purdy's fan club is alive and well, as he took home the top defender honors in commanding fashion. It appears that despite being away from the team for a substantial period during the Gold Cup this summer with El Salvador, and injuries slowing him down at both ends of the MLS campaign, Purdy left the readers wanting to see more. He made a total of eight MLS appearances in 2013 for the Goats, and while he played pretty well in his time on the field, his selection is likely also due to some extent to the poor performance in general from Chivas' defense. Purdy recently underwent surgery on his face after breaking several bones courtesy of a Steven Lenhart elbow, so his toughness can't be questioned. We'll have to see if Purdy can crack the lineup and feature more regularly in 2014.

TGP's 2012 Defender of the Year: James Riley

TGP's 2011 Defender of the Year: Heath Pearce

Congratulations to all of the 2013 winners! And thank you to everybody who voted!
