Sacha Kljestan Signs a Contract Extension with Anderlecht

The former Goat looks set to stay in Belgium at least a few more years.

Sacha Kljestan's has signed a new deal with Anderlecht that goes through 2016. It's a continuation of the four-year-deal which Kljestan signed with the Belgian club in 2010. The Orange County native has been a mainstay on the Anderlecht club and was a key cog in their Belgian Pro League championship-winning side last year.

Kljestan's play for his club forced US Men's coach Jurgen Klinsmann's hand. Kljestan played 31 minutes in Wednesday's Hex qualifier in Honduras, a 2-1 loss in San Pedro Sula. Though their stint in Champions League play this season was short, Anderlecht look primed to return to the competition next year. Through 24 games Anderlecht has 56 points, six points clear of second place Zulte-Waregem.

As Steve Davis noted on Pro Soccer Talk, Kljestan's deal runs until the former Chivas USA midfielder is 30. Certainly at that point he can come to MLS and make an impact, perhaps as a Designated Player.
