There is potentially big news on the Chivas USA ownership front, as a rumor has spread about the sale of the entire Chivas empire. Agent Ron Waxman tweeted this late Thursday evening:

He tweeted a whole bunch about the topic, which you can read on his timeline, but he included this tweet a short time later:

If Waxman's tweets have merit, then the recent reports regarding the future of Chivas USA, including a possible sale to Carlos Slim, the world's richest man, had some real legs after all.

Adding to the intrigue, Chivas USA supporter group Union Ultras released an open letter on their website, complaining about how the club has been run since Jorge Vergara and Angelica Fuentes took over full control of the club last fall. After reading the letter in its entirety, I don't disagree with any of these critiques, and for it to come from the Union Ultras is a strong statement about how shambolically the club has been managed off the field this year.

This article from Mexico's Record says that this is Chivas USA's last season in existence (Spanish), as it will be moved next season. There's no real evidence to go with that in the article, but it potentially fits with the rumors surrounding Slim and MLS being dissatisfied with how Chivas USA is performing this season. Of course, it's hard to really succeed if the current owner is doing literally nothing but paying the electric bill.

If Waxman's claims are correct, then there could be absolutely massive news about Chivas de Guadalajara and Chivas USA tomorrow. Of course, it could be all quiet on the rojiblanco front, so we'll have to wait and find out. Still, we've been following these reports, and you better believe we will have the latest updates as we find out about them.
