It is not an official FIFA international window, but a couple Chivas USA players have been involved in international fixtures this week. Defender Steve Purdy is was involved in El Salvador's friendly Wednesday, while midfielder Marky Delgado has played in a pair of matches for the U.S. U-18 team, currently participating in a tournament in Europe.

Purdy started and played the full 90 minutes for El Salvador against Venezuela Wednesday in a 2-1 road loss. Penalties scored by Cesar Gonzalez and Josef Martinez canceled out the first half lead of El Salvador, who went up via a 24th minute goal by Darwin Ceren. From the available information I could find, Purdy played as a center back in the match, and from these quick highlights, he wasn't at fault for the first penalty, but they didn't show the footage of the second. At any rate, good to see him get minutes for his national team, and perhaps he's edging ever closer to that Gold Cup squad for El Salvador.

In other action, Delgado has started the opening two games for the United States U-18 squad, currently participating in the Lisbon Tournament in Portugal. Although I haven't been able to find full match reports for the games as of yet, Delgado was listed as the captain of the side in their opening 3-0 win against the Czech Republic Tuesday. The Americans got the win courtesy of goals by Rubio Rubin and a brace by Romain Gall.

Meanwhile, today, the young Americans played hosts Portugal, and tied 1-1, with a goal once more by Gall. Delgado started today's match as well, but there's no word on whether he was captain once again. Still, the international experience is good for Delgado, and can hopefully help his development for club and country alike. The U-18s have one more game, Saturday against Hungary, to complete the tournament. Well done Marky, and best of luck on the remainder of the trip!
