I think it is safe to say that non-fans of Chivas USA who follow MLS were pretty shocked by the news that Chelís was fired last night as head coach. Many fans of the team were likewise surprised, but I noticed a real division of opinions emerging the past couple weeks among fans concerning the job Chelís was doing with the team.
On one hand, there was the camp that said he was doing the best he could, and he had a roster with limited players, no input regarding player personnel decisions, and seemed like a pretty good guy.
On the other side, there were those who thought Chelís was being stubborn about his formation and tactical decisions to the detriment of the team, was being outcoached as the weeks rolled by, and established an environment of indiscipline and disrespect on the field.
I'm sure some folks would put themselves firmly in one camp or the other, and some who find elements of both valid. But let's take a vote: Do you agree with the firing of Chelís?
