It is time for the game! Chivas USA face the Carolina RailHawks today in North Carolina (4:15 pm PT, stream available on RailHawks website). These teams are facing each other once again this year, after Chivas USA beat Carolina last year in the same phase of the U.S. Open Cup 2-1. If we go by their respective league form, Carolina is on a roll, and Chivas...are on the opposite of a roll. Plus, new Chivas USA coach Jose Luis Real is back in LA, and sent Sacha van der Most in his stead, and the last team to do that against Carolina in the USOC, the LA Galaxy, got beat 2-0. So, can Chivas go against the tide, despite being the higher division squad, or will the RailHawks spring the "upset" despite being the odds-on favorite to advance? We'll find out in just a couple of hours.
If you missed them, be sure to check out the Three Questions feature and the match preview.
I'll provide basic play-by-play and commentary in the comment section below, stream strength permitting. Feel free to provide your own comments!
