Oswaldo Minda's injury serious, out indefinitely for Chivas USA

The Goats face another blow, with Minda's injury.

Here's some not-so-good news about Chivas USA on the actual games front: Midfielder Oswaldo Minda suffered a left adductor strain Sunday against the LA Galaxy, and he is expected to out indefinitely. The news comes from Blair Angulo over MLSsoccer.com, who wrote an article about the injury and circumstances surrounding it.

Interestingly, the article says that Minda's recovery over the next week will play a big part in determining how long he'll be out altogether, but the implication is that he won't be returning anytime soon.

Minda's absence comes as yet another blow to the Goats this season. When he's been in the lineup, the midfield has looked much better, as there is no other defensive midfielder on the roster with his particular skillset.

Edgar Mejia is expected to be back in the lineup this weekend, so at least one starter should be back. I would imagine Jose Luis Real would go with either Gabriel Farfan (who filled in at d-mid after Minda left the game Sunday) or Marvin Iraheta (the only other midfield "destroyer" on the roster). He could also choose to go without a ball-winner, although I wouldn't think that would be a prudent policy. Still, we'll have to see.

In the meantime, hopefully Minda won't be out too long, and can get back on the field and really gain some traction with the Goats in 2013.
