Carlos Bocanegra and Erick Torres made their debuts, fittingly, with a shutout win over Toronto at home yesterday. Leading up to the game, "Boca" took the time to catch up with old mates.

In yesterday's game, another controversial call was made against Chivas in the form of a direct red card to Eric Avila, which leads to the question, does Major League Soccer sanction bad refereeing against Chivas USA? Does it apply that to all teams evenly? Chivas have been maimed due to some memorably bad (if not biased) calls this season, as those of us who follow the team closely know well.

Chivas USA have acquired central defender Jaime Frias from CD Guadalajara.

In other news, Mexico's Liga MX is now known as Liga Bancomer MX, through a four-year partnership with Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) and their Mexican subsidiary Bancomer (BBVA Bancomer). Many of us know of BBVA and soccer through their sponsorship of Liga BBVA in Spain and recently through their acquiring of naming rights to the Houston Dynamo's field, called BBVA Compass Stadium.

Former Galaxy rival David Beckham is close to announcing his expansion team, likely to happen in Miami.

Guess who's not moving to the Galaxy? Giovani dos Santos, who was recently presented with Villareal in Spain, in spite of offers made from the others. Gio will join fellow Olympic gold medalist and former Cruz Azul player Javier Aquino in Villareal's return to Liga BBVA next season.

Former Chivas de Guadalajara and current Real Sociedad player Carlos Vela finally got on Twitter! Sociedad finished fourth in Liga BBVA and are headed to the UEFA Champions League's qualifying round.

Those that have stuck closely with Chivas USA have seen improvement since Jose Luis Real took over. MLS analyst Matt Doyle provides an in-depth break down of the 3-5-2 formation and why it didn't work for Chivas.

The CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinals kick off this weekend with Panama vs Cuba, Mexico vs Trinidad & Tobago, United States vs El Salvador, and Honduras vs Costa Rica. Who are you tipping to advance?
