Chivas USA Academy player Hugo Arellano, who is currently part of the U.S. Soccer U-17 residency program in Florida, was selected to the U-17 national team for the Aegean Cup, held in Turkey. Arellano and the Americans won the tournament Saturday, by a 2-1 margin in the title game against Turkey.
On twitter yesterday, the young defender held the trophy for the camera:

Arellano was a fixture in the U.S. lineup throughout the tournament, as they racked up a 2-0-1 record in the group stage, with wins over France and Norway and a draw against Scotland, before facing the hosts in the final. It is the second straight international tournament won by the U.S. U-17s, following the Nike International friendlies in December. Arellano was not part of the team for that tournament.
The good news for a member of Chivas' Academy comes just as the main U-18 squad is headed to Guadalajara to compete in the Copa Chivas. Included in that group will be Chivas USA first team players Marky Delgado and Caleb Calvert, who will be hoping to help the team have a good showing against some excellent academy teams from around the globe.
Congrats Hugo on the accomplishment, and continue working hard!
