Mexico face South Korea in pre-World Cup tune-up Wednesday

Mexico's National Team will be playing South Korea this evening in San Antonio (6 pm PT, UniMas/ESPN News). El Tri will try to turn over a new leaf in 2014, following the awful 2013 that saw the team churn through coaches and poor results.

Mexico head coach Miguel Cabrera called up an entirely domestic-based squad for the match, with the exception of defender Diego Reyes, who is with Portuguese side Porto but has not broken into the first team yet.

Though there will be several more friendlies coming up before the World Cup this summer, the game will give players on both sides an opportunity to impress their coaches ahead of the tournament. And with both teams headed to the big tournament, this should be a decent test on either side.

South Korea is currently on a three-game stretch in the U.S., having beaten Costa Rica 1-0 at the LA Coliseum last weekend in a poorly attended match. They will also face the USMNT this Saturday at the StubHub Center...by the way, have you seen our ticket giveaway for that match?

Mexico roster:

Goalkeepers: Jesus Corona, Alfredo Talavera

Defenders: Jorge Torres Nilo, Miguel Layun, Miguel Ponce, Rodolfo Pizarro,Paul Aguilar, Diego Reyes, Enrique Perez, Rafael Marquez, Francisco Rodriguez, Juan Carlos Valenzuela

Midfielders: Juan Jose Vazquez, Jesus Zavala, Juan Carlos Medina, Carlos Peña, Luis Montes

Forwards: Aldo De Nigris, Oribe Peralta, Alan Pulido, Isaac Brizuela
