MLS and USL announced a partnership last year, one that did not have all the details finalized, but one in which 18 of 19 MLS sides participated. The lone club to sit out last year? Chivas USA.

Well, it looks like the Goats are getting in on the action in 2014, as the USL PRO has released their 2014 league schedule. Following the arrangement set up by most clubs last year, Chivas' reserve team will play three games against USL PRO opposition this year:

Date Opponent H/A Time (PT)
April 7 Sacramento Republic FC H 11 am
May 24 Phoenix FC Wolves A 7:10 pm
June 21 LA Blues N/A 7 pm

The game against Sacramento will be a homecoming for former Chivas coach Preki, who is now at the helm of the Republic.

Interestingly, Chivas won't be facing the LA Galaxy's new USL PRO team, LA Galaxy II, despite the Galaxy II playing RSL's reserves during the season. Whether Chivas and the Galaxy purposely avoided playing each other or it was a quirk of the schedule is unknown.

So two of the three games will be played right here in Southern California, and the third isn't far away. Obviously, you can attend the matches if you are so inclined, supporting your Goats and local lower division soccer all at once.

At the same time, USL PRO is making every league game available to stream live or on demand free on YouTube for the 2014 season. So one way or another, you can catch the Chivas' reserves in action, even from the electronic device of your choice.

There has been no word on the MLS Reserve League this season, but with several clubs like Chivas not entering a team of their own in the USL PRO or formally affiliating with a team in the division, it could be back once again in 2014. Still, we'll have to see how much action the reserves will get besides the USL PRO games.

And in case you are wondering, Chivas are reportedly going to enter a team in the USL in 2015, though it will likely be at the USL PDL level (one step below USL PRO). Of course, we haven't received any official word on that yet, so stay tuned.
