We have a new winner for Chivas USA Player of the Month, and it's young midfielder Matt Dunn. Playing three games in September, including his first career MLS start last week against the Seattle Sounders, Dunn has worked his way into the Goats' lineup.
The 20-year-old garnered a whopping 63 percent of the reader vote for the month, so he won in a landslide, and given the team's struggles as a group in September, it perhaps isn't a surprise that the honors go to a player who's finally getting some minutes with the first team.
We'd say that Dunn's emergence could represent some promise for the future of the team, but well, we know that's probably not going to be relevant after these final four games. Instead, it could give him a chance to gain some experience ahead of the next phase of his own career.
Congrats to Matt! And thanks to all of you who voted. Look out for the next (likely final, sniff) monthly poll later in a few weeks.
