Erick "Cubo" Torres scores two in Mexico's 5-2 win over Honduras in Central American and Caribbean Games debut

The win couldn't come at a better time for Mexico.

Just hours after the senior team lost 3-2 against Belarus, Mexico's U-21 squad compensated for the loss and easily defeated Honduras' U-21s 5-2 in their first game of the 2014 Central American and Caribbean games tournament on Tuesday.

Erick "Cubo" Torres lead the squad with two goals in the match; one in the 31st minute and the second in the 53rd. Cubo's first was a controversial one after it had appeared as though the striker had knocked in the goal with his hand. On many social media sites, the comparison to Maradona's "Hand of God" were nonetheless present after the goal — perhaps adding in another layer of intrigue to the striker.

Mexico's U-21 squad will next take on El Salvador on November 20th and then Jamaica on November 22nd.

With a win over El Salvador this Thursday, El Tri will almost surely have a spot guaranteed in the semifinal round of the competition.

Mexico: Jorge Espericueta 3', Erick Torres 31', Hedgardo Marin 41', Angel Zaldivar 47', Erick Torres 53' (penalty)

Honduras: Eddie Hernandez 24', Eddie Hernandez 91' (penalty)
