In their second game action of 2014, Chivas USA hosted the recently rebranded Orange County Blues at the stadium complex Monday, where the Goats won 2-0. Goals came from trialist and 2014 MLS SuperDraft pick Thomas McNamara and former Blue Matthew Fondy.
Here is the lineup for Chivas to start the game:
Tim Melia; Tony Lochhead, Carlos Bocanegra, Bobby Burling, Eric Avila; "Trialist #1", Oswaldo Minda, Mauro Rosales, Thomas McNamara; Erick Torres, Matthew Fondy
I haven't found any information out yet about "Trialist #1," so stay tuned on that front.
To start the second half, Carlos Alvarez replaced "Trialist #1".
According to the club, in the 61st minute the lineup was:
"Trialist #2"; Michael Nwiloh, Fejiro Okiomah, Andrew Jean-Baptiste, Andrew Ribeiro; Kris Tyrpak, Carlos Borja, Carlos Alvarez, Bryan de la Fuente; Adolfo Bautista, Carlo Chueca
I have no idea if "Trialist #2" is the same person as "Trialist GK," who was Larry Jackson, which we discussed last week.
The club gave no other details about the lineup or players involved. In the release from the team on the game, they didn't provide any other player information, including who played and when.

McNamara opened the scoring in the 16th minute, crashing the box after the ball was deflected twice. Fondy doubled the Goats' lead in the 27th minute, off a Rosales free kick. It is Fondy's second goal of the preseason.
We'll have more details as they become available. Chivas will play their next preseason game Thursday against Real Salt Lake, who are in town training (they played UC Irvine to a 1-1 draw Saturday). Unfortunately, the scrimmage will be closed to the public. Based on what we've seen so far, it looks like Chivas coach Wilmer Cabrera prefers to keep practices and scrimmages closed.
