After training with the club the past few weeks, Chivas make it official.

The identity of "Trialist #8"/"Trialist #1" has been fully revealed, and he is officially a member of Chivas USA.

The club announced Wednesday they have signed midfielder Agustin Pelletieri. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Pelletieri, 31, spent most of his career in Argentina, playing with Lanus and most recently, Racing Club. He also had a stint in Greece with AEK Athens in 2008-09.

A holding midfielder, Pelletieri has been a regular contributor at every club he's played for, and while he doesn't provide much on the attacking end, initial reports I've gotten out of Argentina indicate he's a well-respected player who doesn't give up and keeps playing the entire match.

He is the second Argentine Chivas have added in the run-up to the 2014 season, after trading for Mauro Rosales in December.

A big question is how the defensive midfield position will look this year. With Pelletieri joining Oswaldo Minda, it would appear Wilmer Cabrera could deploy both players in front of Chivas' defense, which has seen major reinforcements in the offseason but remains a big question mark heading into the season. If Pelletieri can settle into MLS rather quickly and he and Minda provide cover for the defense, it could help improve what's been a major problem area in recent seasons for the Goats.

Of course, we'll have to wait and see on that front. But it looks like the signing of Pelletieri should make Chivas stronger in the 2014 season.
