Chivas USA's U-18 Academy side finished up play in the Copa Chivas international tournament in Guadalajara this morning, with a 3-2 loss against Chilean side Universidad Catolica's U-18s. The result concluded a rough stretch of games for the Junior Goats, who only managed one win in four matches at the tournament.

The tournament kicked off for Chivas USA on Tuesday with a 4-0 loss to Colombia's U-18 national team. With the games coming quickly, there was little time for turnaround and the Goats faced Club Tijuana's U-18s Wednesday, losing 1-0 on a penalty kick for a handball violation.

On Thursday, Chivas lost 3-0 to another Mexican side, Morelia's U-18s. First team Homegrown signing Marky Delgado took a PK in the match, but it was saved.

They had another chance on Saturday, playing English powerhouse Liverpool's U-18s. Not only did Chivas USA notch a goal, they also won the game 1-0, courtesy of the team's other Homegrown signing, Caleb Calvert.

In today's match, Chivas went down 3-0 in the first half before trying to mount a comeback. Goals from Anthony Rodriguez and Paul Salcedo made it a game, but the Goats couldn't find the equalizer.

As a result of their 1-4-0 record at the Copa Chivas, Chivas USA won't be advancing to the semifinals. Though they found the matches to be tough sledding for the most part, the tournament provided the team with experience, something that will hopefully benefit their development as players. In particular, hopefully the tournament will help jumpstart Delgado and Calvert's preparations with the first team once they join preseason camp, as they missed the first week. Beyond that, the experience should also prove useful for other players on the squad as well.

Congrats on beating Liverpool, and thanks for representing Chivatown on the international stage!
