More drama for Chivas de Guadalajara as Ricardo La Volpe fired for "inappropriate conduct"

After less than a full month in charge, Ricardo La Volpe is out as Chivas de Guadalajara coach, as team owner Jorge Vergara called a press conference on Wednesday to make the announcement. Instead of the rather-routine impatience Vergara has shown as an owner when it comes to coaches, it appears La Volpe is in the wrong in this case, at least according to Vergara.

Vergara said La Volpe was out as coach due to "inappropriate conduct" towards a female staff member of the club. He didn't go into detail about the alleged conduct because the club would make a legal complaint about La Volpe on the matter, and apparently don't want to hurt the investigation on that front.

Frankly, this is a pretty shocking turn of events. It remains to be seen if there will be further word regarding the alleged incident that led to La Volpe's firing, and if there is, from whom.

Chivas' season just ended over the weekend, and they finished in 15th place in the 2014 Clausura, only two points behind the last playoff team, but still well out of the liguilla overall. Under La Volpe, they went 1-2-1. The concern moving forward is whether they can avoid relegation next year, as they are in bad shape as far as that table goes.

Former Mexico national team managers Jose Manuel de la Torre and Victor Manuel Vucetich are rumored to be in the running to be the next Chivas boss, as is former Chivas and Chivas USA coach Jose Luis Real. Will Vergara hire one of these coaches? Will La Volpe coach in Mexico ever again? It's as the Chivas turn, once more.
