Thomas McNamara wins Chivas USA Player of the Month honors for March

One month in, the rookie is already racking up honors.

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Thomas McNamara won the March 2014 Chivas USA Player of the Month award from The Goat Parade. Garnering 62 percent of the vote, the rookie was the runaway winner to kick off the 2014 Player of the Month awards.

McNamara was Chivas' top draft pick in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft, although he was taken at the top of the second round. The Clemson/Brown product scored a goal in his professional debut, the 3-2 win over the Chicago Fire, and has been a fixture so far this season in Wilmer Cabrera's lineup, starting each of the team's four games. Add to that his versatility so far, in that he's played as a forward, holding midfielder and attacking midfielder in his short Chivas tenure, and his impact has been immediate.

Mauro Rosales and Erick Torres finished a distant second and third, respectively in reader voting for the award.

Keep an eye out for the next PotM poll! Thanks for voting!
