Chivas USA may not have many internationals on their roster at the moment, but one player is representing the red-and-white for his country. U.S. Men's National Team U-20 coach Tab Ramos announced his squad for the upcoming Dallas Cup tournament on Wednesday, and CUSA midfielder Marky Delgado was among the 21 players called.
The U-20s will play in the SuperGroup, in Bracket C, at the Dallas Cup from April 13-20, and they will face Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, Argentine giants River Plate, and Liga MX mainstays Tigres UANL during the tournament.
Delgado, who has been called up to recent U-20 training camps by Ramos and has served as captain in scrimmages and friendlies for the National Team, will likely miss two MLS games in that span, on Saturday against the Portland Timbers, and a week from Saturday against the Seattle Sounders. He has come off the bench for the Goats in two league games so far this season.
Also, there was another call-up with Chivas USA ties. Forward Ben Spencer, who played in Chivas' Academy before signing a professional deal with Norwegian club Molde, was also selected by Ramos. Spencer is currently on loan with new NASL side Indy Eleven for the season, which begins this weekend.
Congrats to Marky (and Ben) on the call-up! Continue to do Chivatown proud!
