As many as four players with Chivas USA ties could go to the World Cup

There will be a certain Goat flair in Brazil.

Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

Now that all of the 32 countries have released provisional rosters for the 2014 World Cup, we can take a look at the players with ties to Chivas USA. Though the Goats have struggled as a team in recent years, there will still be connections between CUSA and the proceedings in Brazil.

Let's go through the players:

Marvin Chavez (current club: Chivas USA): Ok, he played for Chivas all of one game, but he was pretty good in that solitary performance before going to Honduras' World Cup camp.

As a member of Luis Fernando Suarez's 23-man squad, as long as he stays healthy and doesn't have a disciplinary breakdown off-field, he should be on the plane to Brazil.

Honduras' pre-WC friendlies:

vs. Turkey in Washington D.C. (RFK Stadium), Thursday, May 29, 5 pm PT (beIn Sports/Univision Deportes)

vs. Israel in Houston (BBVA Compass Stadium), Sunday, June 1, 6 pm PT (beIn Sports/beIn Sports Español/Univision Deportes)

vs. England in Miami (SunLife Stadium), Saturday, June 7, 1:45 PT (TV information unknown)

Oswaldo Minda (Chivas USA): Minda's selection was a surprise, as it didn't appear he was in the mix for Ecuador's World Cup squad, before being named to the 30-man squad by Reinaldo Rueda. However, The Goat Parade has spoken with Chivas USA, and Minda has not been called away to participate in La Tri's WC camp as of yet, so he looks like one of the seven alternates to the actual 23-man squad that will be going to Brazil. That means he likely won't get the call unless a player ahead of him gets injured or is dismissed from the team by Rueda, meaning he has an outside shot of going to Brazil. A shot nonetheless, but an outside shot at this point.

Ecuador's pre-WC friendlies:

vs. Mexico in Arlington, Texas (AT&T Stadium), Saturday, May 31, 12 pm PT (ESPN News/Univision)

vs. England in Miami (SunLife Stadium), Wednesday, June 4, 12 pm PT (TV info unknown)

Brad Guzan (Aston Villa): The sole holdover of Chivas USA's former trio of U.S. Men's National Team stars to make the 2014 World Cup squad, Guzan is firmly entrenched in the U.S. roster for Brazil. Although coach Jurgen Klinsmann has yet to make the cuts for the 23-man squad*, Guzan is one of only three goalkeepers selected for the 30-man roster, and is the incumbent No. 2 behind Tim Howard for the moment. As a result, he is going to Brazil, again, barring injury or dismissal from the team. Though he is unlikely to play in the tournament itself unless something goes wrong for Howard, he has a shot at playing and may see time in the preparatory USMNT friendlies.

* Klinsmann named the 23-man roster on Thursday. Guzan did indeed make the cut.

United States' pre-WC friendlies:

vs. Azerbaijan in San Francisco (Candlestick Park), Tuesday, May 27, 7 pm PT (ESPN2/UniMas)

vs. Turkey in Harrison, NJ (Red Bull Arena), Sunday, June 1, 11 am PT (ESPN2/UniMas)

vs. Nigeria in Jacksonville, Florida (EverBank Field), Saturday, June 7, 3 pm PT (ESPN/UniMas)

Michael Umana (Saprissa): Despite having an up-and-down tenure with Chivas USA, Umaña continues to be a Costa Rican international, as he's playing well in his home country for Saprissa. A fixture in World Cup qualifying, it looks likely that he will survive the cut to the 23-man squad and will go to Brazil for Los Ticos. Expect to see him start along the 5-man backline for the underdogs in Brazil.

Costa Rica's pre-WC friendlies:

vs. Japan, Sunday, June 1, 4 pm PT (TV info unknown)

vs. Republic of Ireland, Friday, June 6, 7 am PT (TV info unknown)
