Editor's Note: With the World Cup almost here, we are gearing up for the big dance by welcoming a new writer aboard, Joshua Friend, who will help with international coverage this summer. In his first article, Joshua gives us a rundown of Chivas USA's World Cup-bound player Marvin Chavez, who played for Honduras on Thursday. Welcome aboard, Joshua!
In a friendly ahead of the World Cup, Mevlut Erdinc opened up the scoring in the 70th minute, with Caner Erkin scoring in the 83rd, to put Turkey up 2-0 and ultimately give them the victory over Honduras in Washington, D.C. on Thursday.
World Cup-bound Honduras looked lost at times in the game, with strikers settling for long range shots that went wide and the backline leaving holes and unmarked players which resulted in both goals.
Chivas USA's Marvin Chavez came on for former D.C. United winger Andy Najar in the 66th minute. It wasn't until Chavez switched to the right side where you can see the potential he has to push this team into attacking form. Chavez definitely adds skill and strength to an already-confident Honduras midfield. Despite that, given the result Honduras has some issues to work out before heading to Brazil.
Follow Chavez and the rest of Los Catrachos as they travel to Houston, where they take on Israel in another friendly this Sunday 6/1 at 6 pm PT, on beIN Sports and Univision Deportes.
