Medio Tiempo published a report on Saturday claiming former FC Dallas goalkeeper Richard Sanchez, a Homegrown product of that team, was close to being loaned out to Chivas USA, barring "final details" being wrapped up (Spanish).
Sanchez, 20, was just transferred to Tigres UANL (aka Jonathan Bornstein's club) two weeks ago from FCD. As Medio Tiempo notes, Tigres currently have five goalkeepers on their roster including Sanchez, so it seems likely he'd go somewhere on loan.
Chivas USA seems like a strange destination, except for two factors: He is in fact originally from California, before he moved to Texas, and Chivas USA cut their relatively longtime backup GK, Tim Melia, last week. So as weird as it would be for Sanchez, considered one of the very brightest goalkeeping prospects in the United States and Mexico, to swap MLS teams midseason, it could happen via Tigres.
As the article states, it's not a done deal, but it seems fairly likely. We're still in "report" territory but I think it's likely this happens. Stay tuned on any developments in this story, as we'll have them.
