Chivas USA forward Erick "Cubo" Torres nominated for MLS Player of the Month

Cubo could grab another award, but he needs your help!

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

In addition to the goals he's been tallying this season, and honors like his 2014 MLS All-Star selection, Chivas USA striker Erick Torres has been nominated for the MLS Player of the Month award for July 2014. His four-goal performance last month, coming in four consecutive games, helped Chivas USA to three wins in five games, part of their best run in league play since 2008.

Cubo is in the running for the July Player of the Month honor with Sporting Kansas City's Benny Feilhaber, D.C. United goalkeeper Bill Hamid, New York Red Bulls striker and the only player ahead of Cubo in the MLS Golden Boot race at the moment, Bradley Wright-Phillips, and LA Galaxy striker Gyasi Zardes.

Here's the thing with the award: you can vote for the winner! Go to this page announcing the nominees, and vote for your choice. There are some good players who had a good month, but since there isn't a Sounders player, Timbers player, or funnily enough, an FC Dallas player in the running, Cubo's got a great shot! But he can only win if you vote for him, so do your part and spread the word!
