Reserves: Chivas USA lose 1-0 to Montreal Impact

Another loss in the reserves, but hey, the first team is winning!

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Chivas USA played in the MLS Reserve League on Sunday morning, squaring off against the Montreal Impact and losing 1-0 courtesy of a Mamadou Danso penalty.

Andrew Jean-Baptiste fouled Impact forward Anthony Jackson-Hauel in the box in the first half, and Danso slotted the PK home in the 23rd minute. Despite working for a goal of their own, the Goats could not find an answer on the day.

Here was the starting lineup for CUSA in the game:

Trevor Spangenberg; Akira Kaji, Eriq Zavaleta, Andrew Jean-Baptiste, Michael Nwiloh; Oswaldo Minda, Matt Dunn, Cummings, Kristopher Tyrpak, Nathan Sturgis; Ryan Finley

I tried to figure out who Cummings is, but no indication as of yet.

Three subs came on in the game. Valencia (46th minute for Minda), Smith (79th minute for Sturgis), and Cano (84th minute for Finley). I haven't found any indication on who these players are yet, either.

The loss puts the CUSA reserves' official record at 1-5-1 for the season. On the bright side, they won the game that counted, the MLS Regular Season match the day before against the Impact, and I think everybody would rather win the competitive game and lose the reserve game.

This reserve game also means Chivas USA aren't scheduled to play an official reserve league game again until October 6. Why the three month wait? Who knows? It's weird, honestly. Even if these games don't count, they help keep players in some semblance of shape, and help give the younger players more game reps.

Oh, and you can watch the game in its entirety here:
