Following the shock news of Chivas USA's trade of Mauro Rosales for Nigel Reo-Coker on Thursday, Ives Galarcep reported on Friday that another trade involving CUSA could be in the works:
Hearing rumblings of a Fire-Chivas USA trade. Jhon Kennedy Hurtado to the Goats for allocation $. Will be interesting to see what Fire plan
— Ives Galarcep (@SoccerByIves) August 22, 2014
With Carlos Bocanegra sidelined indefinitely with post-concussion symptoms, it seems the club needs to look elsewhere to bolster the center back position, and Hurtado is an MLS veteran who could slot in immediately at the position. The 30-year-old is in his first season with the Fire after spending the previous four with the Seattle Sounders.
Hurtado probably won't light the world on fire, but he's competent, and it's unlikely an MLS team would look to offload an All-Star caliber CB at this point in a season, right?
Stay tuned to see if the Colombian will really be joining the Goats. We'll obviously update the story as we learn more.
