Near and far: FC Dallas 1, Chivas USA 0

Better play, but the same disappointing result.

Kaji: Seems to be settling into MLS reasonably well.

Chivas USA took to the "home" field looking to end their two-game losing streak with a match against FC Dallas on Sunday night. That quest failed, as a second-half goal from rookie Tesho Akindele gave the visitors a 1-0 win and the season series against the Goats.

Paradoxically, Chivas USA both played pretty well overall and not at all well, which is to say they frequently held the ball and controlled the run of play, but Dallas had better chances and a couple of good defensive plays, from goalkeeper Dan Kennedy and defender Akira Kaji, kept the scoreline respectable, if a loss nonetheless.

Erick Torres' best chance of the night came on a free header with about a dozen minutes to go, but it sailed over the bar and with it, Chivas' chance at a point.

The loss puts the Goats' current streak at three, coming off the back of a four-game winning streak. Needless to say, the rising hopes about CUSA's season are fading again, and quickly.

We'll have more coverage of this loss in the coming days. In the meantime, what do you make of their performance? Reason for hope or is the cause long gone? Leave a comment below!
