Chivas USA's Erick "Cubo" Torres ranks second in MLS' 2014 "24 Under 24" series

The Goats' brightest spot is pulling in more acclaim from around the league.

Every year, MLSsoccer.com releases a ranked list of "24 Under 24," that is, the best players in the league under 24 years of age. For the first time since 2012, when Juan Agudelo cracked the list at number 13, and just the third time ever in the five years of the series, a Chivas USA player is included, and that player is none other than star striker Erick Torres.

The recently minted Mexican international ranks in at No. 2, behind only Seattle Sounders star DeAndre Yedlin, who of course featured for the United States at the World Cup this summer and has officially been transferred to England's Tottenham Hotspur (he remains on loan with the Sounders through the rest of this season, at least).

Rounding out the Top 5 this year are Fabian Castillo (FC Dallas), Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy) and Diego Fagundez (New England Revolution), so Cubo's in some pretty good company.

Here's Torres' page devoted to his selection on MLSsoccer.com, and here's the full list of this year's group.

Congrats to Cubo!

Complete list of CUSA players in the "24 Under 24" rankings:

2014: Erick "Cubo" Torres (No. 2)

2012: Juan Agudelo (No. 13)

2010: Justin Braun (No. 10)
