Another former Chivas USA player has found a new home in MLS, as Toronto FC announced on Monday that they have acquired Eriq Zavaleta in a trade with the Seattle Sounders. In exchange, the Sounders receive a 2016 second-round MLS SuperDraft pick.
To my knowledge, Zavaleta was out of contract with the Sounders, who declined his contract option last year after returning from his season-long loan with the Goats. But they still held his MLS player rights. Presumably, if TFC are trading for him, then they're planning on signing him.

Zavaleta will be reunited in Toronto with Marky Delgado, and perhaps more importantly, Greg Vanney and Robin Fraser. Vanney is Zavaleta's nephew, and Zavaleta was part of Chivas USA's Academy during part of Fraser and Vanney's run with Chivas.
Best of luck to Eriq in Canada -- he had a promising season last year with Chivas, and here's hoping he can build on that in 2015.
