USL continues to prepare for the start of the season next month, and local side Orange County Blues held another scrimmage this week, with a 7-0 win over Cal State Fullerton.
Alex Martinez (listed as a trialist, although he played for the Blues for a spell last year) opened the scoring in the 18th minute, before former Chivas USA forward Chris Cortez (also listed as a trialist, despite spending the past two seasons with the club) got his first of the match 10 minutes later. Former Chivas USA U-23 midfielder Jacob Barron then got in the action in the 32nd minute, to make the game 3-0.
Martinez scored a second goal in the second half, and in a case of deja vu, Cortez then got his second of the game as well, both of his on the day coming off headers.
Two more goals were scored in the game, by two trialists, only identified as "Cristofer" and "Javier" by the team's Twitter account to give the Blues the 7-0 scoreline.
The team, which still has more than a month before their season opener, will have their next match action Mar. 1 against UCLA at Orange County Great Park, though according to the team's Twitter account, it is unknown if the game will be open to the general public.
In the meantime, the club will be surely announcing more signings for the season. There is, of course, plenty of time before the season gets underway, but there are a lot of open roster spots at present, so one expects more announcements on that front before long.
