Although they won't be moving on as finalists, Chivas USA Academy will participate in the final tournament for the 2014-15 Generation adidas Cup. The tournament, for MLS U-17 academy teams as well as 10 international youth teams in this final phase, is divided into the Champions Division and Premier Division, with the Junior Goats playing in the latter group.
CUSA have an interesting group for the tournament, which will take place Mar. 29-Apr. 4 in Frisco, Texas, as they've been placed in Group C alongside MLS academies D.C. United, Columbus Crew SC and J-League youth squad Sagan Tosu. The Japanese club's senior team finished fifth in the J-League last season.
Chivas will take on D.C. United on Mar. 29, will play Crew SC the following day, and then Sagan Tosu on Apr. 1. Based on the available information, it's unclear if there will be a knockout stage in the Premier Division. In addition, some games will be streamed on MLSsoccer.com, but it's unclear at present if any of those games will be Chivas USA's. We'll fill you in when we find out more.
At any rate, it's the last hurrah in the Generation adidas Cup for Chivas USA. Best of luck to the team in Texas!
