The Orange County Blues are back on the USL Team of the Week, as defender Josh Suggs received his first commendation of the season following the Blues' 1-1 draw against LA Galaxy II last week. Suggs nearly scored on a floated cross that Galaxy II goalkeeper Clement Diop had to push over the bar, and the left back also contributed to OC's holding on for a point after the team went down to 10 men.
Suggs' selection is the first for a Blues player in nearly two full months. Congrats to Josh on the recognition, as he's been having a quietly steady season.
USL also announced on Tuesday that the player sent off in that game against LA, defender Brenton Griffiths, will serve a standard one-game suspension for picking up two yellow cards in a match. As a result, Griffiths will miss Saturday's match against first-time opponents Real Monarchs SLC. The downside is that Griffiths has unquestionably been the rock of the Blues' defense and the most consistent player in the back this season, but the upshot is that Oliver Wyss will have a full week to prepare his replacement for this game.
