Here's something you don't see everyday: A soccer game in Southern California has been postponed due to inclement weather.
In this case, the unusual September storms that swept through the region on Tuesday have meant that the Orange County Blues' USL regular season finale against the Sacramento Republic, originally scheduled for this evening, has been postponed to next Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 7:30 pm PT at Anteater Stadium.
The issue is that the Anteater Stadium field at UC Irvine was flooded as a result of the heavy rain and the field would not be ready in time for a game tonight. Apparently the club looked at alternate options on short notice, but finding a suitable replacement on 24 hours' notice was a bridge too far, which is understandable.
The Blues say all tickets bought for the game will be honored for Tuesday's match.
This game won't even be the last of the USL regular season slate, as another game, Toronto FC II against Rochester Rhinos, had to be postponed as well and will be held next Thursday.
