Orange County Blues lose mainstay defender Josh Suggs to Colorado Springs Switchbacks

Looks like a big loss for the Blues.

Some rough news on Thursday for Orange County Blues fans, as left back Josh Suggs was announced as the Colorado Springs Switchbacks' newest signing.

"I'm extremely excited about the opportunity to play for the Switchbacks," Suggs said in a Switchbacks statement. "I have been impressed by the team and the organization. I can't wait to get on the field and start working toward bringing a championship to Colorado Springs."

The loss would appear to be quite a blow for the Blues, as Suggs was one of the most consistent fullbacks in USL the past couple years and was a key part of the team's attack last season, too.

Obviously the ultimate impact of the departure is dependent on who steps in for Suggs in Orange County's lineup, but he's probably not going to be easy to replace. Add to that the fact that he's going to a direct Western Conference rival, on a team that was really very good in their first season in Colorado Springs, and it's a tough pill to swallow from a Blues' perspective, at least today.

Still, we'll keep you updated on OC Blues roster moves as we learn of them.
