The Orange County Blues’ 2016 international, forward Trevin Caesar, has been called up once again by Trinidad & Tobago, for their Caribbean Cup qualifiers against the Dominican Republic on Wednesday and Martinique on Oct. 11.
It’s great news for Caesar, who is eager to become a regular with T&T and possibly get more playing time for his country, after serving in a cameo role in last month’s World Cup qualifiers.
On the downside is that while we’ve just entered a FIFA international window, USL is not taking a break, and a story on the league website on Monday confirmed Caesar will miss Sunday’s Western Conference semifinal clash against Swope Park Rangers in Kansas City.
This is not an insignificant loss. Caesar is the team’s leading scorer, and without him on the field the strikers are just not as potent for OC.
On the other hand, you can’t begrudge him the chance to get a bigger chance with his national team while he’s in good form. It’s just tough timing for the Blues, but they’ll have to forge on for the season’s biggest game nevertheless.
