The LA 2024 Summer Olympics bid seems to be picking up steam, and Los Angeles Football Club remains a part of the bid committee’s plans.
After initially being mooted as a possible aquatics center when the initial bid book was released in August 2015, LA 2024 released a new video on Monday in which LAFC’s new home, Banc of California Stadium, is touted as the home of the preliminary rounds of the soccer tournaments at the Olympics and Paralympics.
A new Games for a new era!

LAFC president Tom Penn briefly mentioned Banc of California Stadium as an Olympic soccer venue at the stadium groundbreaking in August.
Notably, the Rose Bowl was mentioned as another soccer venue, presumably for the knockout rounds and/or finals of the men’s and women’s tournaments, and the LA Galaxy’s home, StubHub Center, was included as a four-sport venue, including rugby (bear in mind StubHub Center is already a multisport complex, including the soccer stadium).
So if the bid actually proves successful (remember, that’s not yet assured) we could see Olympic soccer played at LAFC’s home in 2024. And that sounds pretty neat.
