Official: MLS Combine, Draft coming to Los Angeles in January

Seemed pretty likely, but there is confirmation it’s happening.

Los Angeles is going to help kick off the 2017 MLS season in style.

All signs pointed to LA being the site of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft, since the NSCAA convention will be in town in January, and the draft usually takes place during that event. That will indeed be the case for the next draft as well, as a calendar on MLSsoccer.com confirms the draft will take place in Los Angeles, on Jan. 13.

In addition, the MLS Player Combine will also take place in LA, from Jan. 7-12, which makes sense considering the mild winter and travel involved for all 22 teams involved in the draft. That is also confirmed on the aforementioned calendar.

A venue for the Combine has not yet been announced, and it is unclear if the public will even be able to attend the matches. However, there is normally a crowd for the SuperDraft and it’s likely at least a limited number of fans will be allowed inside the room to cheer, boo, and add atmosphere to the event. Details on that will be shared once that information becomes public.
